I’m Kal Morrison, a tattooer and multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles.
My work focuses on bold, folk-inspired imagery built from simple shapes, strong lines, and repeating motifs. I’m drawn to themes that feel familiar but slightly off, obscure takes on traditional ideas, filtered through a more surreal and intuitive lens.
A lot of my inspiration comes from nature, everyday life, and the history of tattooing itself, one of the most direct and enduring forms of folk art. I’m especially influenced by outsider art, primitive design, and older visual traditions that prioritize impact over precision.
I aim to create images that feel solid and immediate, while still carrying movement through minimal linework and layered forms.
Outside of tattooing, I spend my time painting, woodworking, making music, and spending time with my family - all of which feed back into the way I approach drawing and design.
